What does getting better
at fingerstyle guitar
look like to you?

And what if you knew exactly what to work on,
based on where your own playing is right now?

UM...THAT WOULD BE COOL! GO ON...

Picking Coordination

You know a little Travis picking or you've started learning to play some steady-bass blues, but can't seem to keep your thumb in line, doing what it's supposed to do, or get your fingers coordinated with your thumb.

Repertoire

You know some tunes, maybe even some classics like "Deep River Blues" or "Hesitation Blues," but you want to know how to make them more interesting, and to learn more cool songs to add to your repertoire.

Improvising

You've learned some tricky arrangements and they sound pretty good, but you'd like to get away from just memorizing other people's tab and playing by rote. You'd like to be able to just sit down and make your own music.

I don't have a ton of time to practice. So what do you mean, "know exactly what to work on"?
Take my mini quiz to find out!

Ready for a little self-diagnosis?

Let's take a good look at where you're at and then we can decide on your next step.

How's your right-hand technique?

Music Theory?

Fingerboard knowledge?

Rhythm & Syncopation?

TAKE THE QUIZ TO SET YOUR NEXT STEP

So, are you ready to start learning things in a different way?

So, now you need to ask yourself something - are you up for digging in and learning some things about music to help you get better? Or are you going to go elsewhere to learn a couple of new songs and play those at the same level as the ones you know?

Stick with me and you're going to become more conscious of what you're doing and more aware of what's happening musically.

I'm going to show you a song or two in a style you maybe haven't tried before - there might be more jazz chords, or a different right-hand groove. The plan is to slowly increase your capacity for learning and playing each week.
