Light Verse In August

Aug 15, 2019
The pines are tall, the spruce are blue
there isn’t a whole lot to do
the mansions look baronial,
the vibe, mostly colonial

the weather may be hot for some
but it’s a vast improvement from
the Southwest, where the heat index
is positively Hades-esque

The Fretboard crew – three-fourths, at least –
have thus decamped to the Northeast
and hence, this bit of verse oblique:
the Letter will be back next week

Till then, dig Ethan Iverson
not so much for the transcriptions
as for his thoughtful closing muse
on Gershwin, changes, and the blues.
